An Accra High Court has adjourned to 10 November a suit filed by the flag bearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr Edward Mahama, challenging his disqualification from the 2016 presidential race.
The Electoral Commission (EC) disqualified Dr Mahama and 12 others for errors they made on their nomination forms.
The case was adjourned because lawyers of the EC did not show up in court on Friday November 4.
Earlier on Friday, the court ordered the EC to give Mr Hassan Ayariga, flag bearer of the All People’s Congress (APC) the chance to make the necessary corrections on his forms.
Last week, another High Court made a similar ruling in favour of the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom.
The Supreme Court has, however, set 7 November to give its ruling on the case brought before it by the EC seeking to counter-quash the High Court ruling which ordered the election management body to allow Dr Nduom to get back into the presidential race.
