The Chief of Bonyere at Jomoro Municipality in the Western Region, Nana Nyameke Annor IV is calling on government to strengthen their educational system as it keeps deteriorating while Children at the Methodist Basic School at Bonyere are using the nearby bushes as a toilet.
If it will be recalled, Ghana is now a step closer in positioning itself strategically as the hub of oil refinery in the West African sub-region to construct an integrated Petroleum Complex at Bonyere.
However, the chief of Bonyere Nana Nyameke IV speaking in an interview with Angel News Mubarak Yakubu, says it might seem his township looks like a village, hence, government pays less attention to their educational system.
Nana Nyameke IV who was enstooled during the weekend at Bonyere says he will be projecting the educational system, and link up with the government and some private sectors to make sure he strengthens the educational system.
He also calls on the youth not to be reluctant on their education since it has no limit.
“One thing of the things I will be tackling in my community is Education, some of us in the village really suffer when it comes to education, so the opportunity I have gotten being at the city will make sure it also has impact on the students of Bonyere.”
He said, “I’m going to make sure he gives scholarships to at least five (5) pupils through the help of his elders.”
Meanwhile, the Headmaster of Bonyere Methodist Basic school, Annor Meazar says the school with about 420 pupils from KG to Primary Six (6) have to use the bushes because the toilets at Bonyere Methodist school are broken down and not safe for small children.
He further explained that, some of the ladies who menstruate find it difficult to change themselves with the reason that their lavatory which is supposed to be a place for them has been locked.
Although the chief has promised to help them, he therefore calls on the government to assist the chief get a new lavatory or get it distilled.
