Ghana’s parliament has approved the nomination of six persons to be sworn in as ministers by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
They are Ursula Owusu-Ekuful – Minister-designate for Communications, Joe Ghartey – Minister-designate for Railway Development, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Minister-designate for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Joseph Kofi Addah – Minister-designate for Sanitation and Water Resources, Kwesi Amoako-Atta – Minister-designate for Roads and Highways, Kwaku Ofori-Asiamah, Minister-Designate of Transport.
They were vetted by the Appointments Committee of parliament last week and are expected to be sworn into office by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Meanwhile the House is yet to approve the nomination of Otoko Afisa Djaba, Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, after the committee failed to reach a consensus on her approval.
During her vetting, she said she did not do her national service, a revelation Minority MPs said was a clear violation of the law, hence their refusal to approve her.
