Ghana’s legislature on Wednesday October 26 approved John Oti Bless as Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
His approval was held up following verbal attacks he directed at the judiciary and the Chief Justice, Theodora Georgina Wood, on Accra-based Montie FM.
The Speaker of parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, directed that his approval be put on hold until the Nkwanta North legislator apologised for the comments he made.
Accordingly, Mr Oti issued an apology to the Chief Justice and members of the judiciary for the derogatory comments, saying: “I was misled in a way as a young guy with youthful exuberance, you can understand. That is not my nature, that’s not how I was brought up. I’ll plead that it won’t happen again. This will be the last time. They should kindly forgive me in the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.”
