An Accra Circuit Court has granted former Black Stars defender John Paintsil a GHS5000 bail with one surety as he pleaded not guilty to charges relating to assault of a police officer.
John Paintsil was charged with four counts of causing harm, offensive conduct, threat of harm, and assault on two police officers at the East Legon Police Station on 24th May, 2016, when he attacked two police officers following a report by his wife that he had stolen her car.
This is not the first time the footballer has had a brush with the law.
On 22 February 2013, Paintsil was held in police custody for assaulting his wife and beating a neighbour, who tried to save the situation.
Paintsil was part of the Black Stars team that played in the FIFA World Cup in 2006 and 2010.
