Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II says the friendship between Manhyia and Buckingham Palace supersedes the relationship that exists between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
According to him, the continued relationship between the two royal gates has developed into a mutually beneficial one.
The Asantehene made the remarks on Wednesday, April 5, when the daughter of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace as part of her visit to Ghana.
He says the Princess’ visit to the country attests to her interest in the development of women and the girl child.
British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, who spoke on behalf of the Princess, said the Manhyia Palace has played a major role in enhancing the relationship between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
Princess Anne is the sponsor of Varkey Foundation’s Making Ghanaian Girls Great, Ghana’s first interactive distance learning project.
