Parliament has put on hold the approval of John Oti Bless, the Deputy Minister-Designate for Local Government and Rural Development.
It follows revelations, after his vetting by the Appointments Committee, that the Nkwanta North MP had made disparaging comments about the Chief Justice on Accra-based Montie FM a few weeks ago.
A group has petitioned parliament against approving Mr Bless’ nomination after the abusive audiotape came to the public domain.
Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho told the house on Thursday August 5 that further consultation needed to be had on Mr Bless’ nomination.
Meanwhile, two other nominees: Mr Emmanuel Bombande (Deputy Minister-Designate of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration) and Deputy Eastern regional Minister-Designate Joseph Tetteh Angmor have been approved by parliament.
