Another miner has allegedly been shot dead by members of government’s anti-galamsey taskforce known as Operation Vanguard at Sefwi-Ankra in the Juaboso District of the Western Region.
The deceased, Charles Samuels and three others were at a mining site in the forest when three soldiers from the taskforce took them by surprise and opened fire on them.
According to one of the miners who escaped, the soldiers numbering three upon seeing them on the site fired at them without warning killing Mr Samuels in the process.
According to him, one soldier only said they were stubborn before they opened fire.
The escapee also alleged that the soldiers set mining equipment at the site ablaze and cannot tell what has become of the body of the deceased as he run for his life.
Meanwhile, Operation Vanguard is yet to make public any such alleged incident.
The latest incident comes a week after the taskforce shot and killed another alleged illegal small-scale miner at Anyimadukrom in the Obuasi municipality.
