The mobile phones of journalists who covered the committal proceedings of embattled CEO of Obengfo Hospital were seized on Tuesday, 19 June 2018 on the orders of the Magistrate who sat at District Court 8, Her Worship Efua Sackey.
She had the Court Warrant Officer confiscate all phones belonging to journalists who were in cocurt to cover the proceedings before starting the hearing.
Some of the journalists whose phones were seized include Accra100.5FM’s Ama Brako Ampofo, Publisher Newspaper’s Jeffrey De-Graft Johnson, Ghanaian Times’ Malik Suleiman and EIB’s Wilberforce Asare.
The journalists, after the hearing, expressed their reservations about the magistrate’s action.
The Judge has not been enthused by the presence of journalists in her court since the case started and once asked them to seek clearance from the Court Clerk before gaining access to her sittings.
Dr Dominic Obeng-Andoh is in court in connection with the death of the Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP), Stacy Offei-Darko, who died at his facility a few weeks ago under what the deceased’s family described as strange circumstances.
At Tuesday’s hearing, the police prosecutors informed the magistrate that they have managed to get the full medical report of Dr Obeng-Andoh and submitted same to the court.
