The National Service Secretariat has indicated that challenges relating to placement of personnel are being addressed before the official commencement of the service period.
Scores of service personnel have reported of rejections by the institutions they were posted to, with explanations that there are no vacancies.
The rejected service personnel also claim some of the institutions have no knowledge of the postings.
Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Service Scheme, Ambrose Entsiwah Jr. explained that the secretariat is making efforts to confirm the development and a few institutions contacted have collected the appointment letters to do their own verification “to be sure that the people who appeared before them to do national service are actually posted there then they will call them at the appropriate time”.
He also noted that some of the institutions made requests for specific personnel based on their needs and they have not received those persons yet, “therefore, it will be difficult for them to receive others other than those they requested for”.
He said such firms are private institutions that will be paying the service personnel allowances from the firm’s resources as well as pay service charges to the secretariat.
Mr Entsiwah Jr. told Accra-based Joy FM on Thursday, August 3 that the issues “will be resolved before 24 August before they start the service”.
