The National Service Secretariat has organised a two-day capacity building workshop in Accra for service personnel to equip them with skills to perform effectively in the corporate world.
The first day of the event was held on August 30, 2017 as similar projects are expected across the country in collaboration with United Wealth.
Deputy Director of the National Service Scheme, Dr Gifty Oware-Aboagye said the session is aimed at equipping personnel with basic tools and soft skills including curriculum vitae (CV) writing, work ethics and time management.
She said there was a need for personnel to have an online presence well packaged to exhibit an electronic CV as she also spoke about other important issues towards a successful transition to the corporate world.
For her, a wealth management system is important and every young person must adopt ways of monetizing their skills.
Director, Manpower and Planning at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Colonel Baidoo Acheampong, also highlighted the need for discipline in the cause of every personnel’s chosen career.
He indicated that the scheme helps to prepare professionals for their entire life hence personnel should not discard discipline and patriotism as they render services to the nation and move on to pursue their own endeavours after the national service period.
Day two of the workshop is expected to address saving and investment culture for financial security.
Managing Director for United Wealth, Kobina Ata-Bedu and Managing Director for United Savings and Loans were present at the event.
