The Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, has said the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be deliberating on all the amendment proposals presented by the party’s delegates who met at the delegate conference in Cape Coast on Saturday August 26.
According to him, it was not possible for the party to have reviewed all the proposals in Cape Coast due to the volume of documents presented, therefore, a motion was moved for the National Council to set up an expert committee to review the proposals and make recommendations.
Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM Monday August 28, Mr Duncan said: “We couldn’t have dealt with the amendments, clauses and articles at the event. For over five thousand members to put constitutional amendment proposals on the table, I am wondering when we were going to leave that place if we had gone through all of them
“And so Dan Botwe, former General Secretary of the NPP moved the motion for National Council to set up a body to look at all these proposals which have come and for them to also look at it and to come up with recommendations.
“When that is done then we may have to call extra ordinary delegates conference and look at these recommendations and where we need to adopt we will adopt and then they become the amended constitution.”
