Member of Parliament for Ododododiodio Constituency Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has charged Assin North constituents in the Central Region to remain resolute ahead of a possible by-election.
He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will soon bring some of the funds from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Assin North just to influence votes.
He, therefore, charged the constituents to take the money and spend.
“They have stolen the monies to the extent that there is none to steal,” he addressed a vigil held by residents of Assin Bereku for ousted James Gyakye Quayson on Sunday, May 28.
“Now, they have gone for IMF’s. They are bringing it to spend. They will bring it here to deceive you,” he continued in local language Twi.
“The money belongs to Ghanaians, when they bring it, take it and spend it.”
The former Youth and Sports Minister promised bussing some of his colleague MPs to Assin North from next week to start rallying support for Mr Quayson to be re-elected the MP.
The Assin North seat is yet to be declared vacant despite a ruling by the High Court, annuling the election of Mr Quayson as MP in 2020.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday, May 17 ordered Parliament to expunge names of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) member from all records.
The written judgement is yet to be released, for which reason the Minority on Friday, May 26 refused to vote on Chief Justice nominee Gertrude Esaaba Araba Sackey Torkornoo.
