Former Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing in the Kufuor administration, Boniface Abubakar Siddique, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will provide special capacity building to coaches in the various sporting disciplines as well as set up academies to help educate young and upcoming athletes in the country, if given the nod to form the next government after the December polls.
Mr Abubakar Siddique said sports must be a key aspect of nation building.
“We want to ensure that we give special capacity building to coaches in different disciplines and also set up academies that will help bring up young and talented athletes who will have some added skills to their natural sporting talent. We think that sports is at the core of nation building,” he told Class Sports’ Hussein Hassan.
Mr Abubakar Siddique, who is running for parliament for the Madina constituency promised to establish sports counselling sessions which will help advise and cater for the talented youth of Madina and also work to form a team that will unite Madina as a whole and also play in Ghana’s Premier League.
“I have tagged my mission, Mission Madina and in sporting terms, I am not only willing to bring back the golden days that produced the likes of Yaw Preko, Godwin Ablordey among others, but to ensure the area becomes a hub for the country to depend on when it comes to sportsmen and women.”
