The Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ablekuma North constituency, Abubakari Braimah (Abutrika), has said he deserves to be retained in the party’s primaries due to the work he did to ensure victory for the NPP in the 2016 polls.
According to him, he was able to thwart the clandestine machination of the National Democratic Cngress (NDC) to rig the elections for their candidate, and therefore, will want to continue using that experience to help the party in future elections.
He however noted that there are a few bottlenecks that threaten the unity of the party in the constituency, a situation he said, the national executives of the party must deal with immediately.
The NPP will on Saturday, 24 February 2018 organise its primaries to elect constituency executives to steer affairs of the party for the next four years.
Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of the Ghana Yensom Show on Accra100.5FM on Friday, 23 February 2018, Mr Braimah said: “I promised the people in 2016 that we’ll work to bring the party to power and we did just that. I was able to stop the NDC from rigging the elections in the constituency. I have helped some of the youth in our constituency to get jobs and I promise I’ll do more.”
Meanwhile, the Director of Elections for the NPP, Evans Nimako has said preparations are far advanced to ensure a successful elections.
He assured that all the legal cases that have come in connection with the election will be dealt with by the party’s legal team.
He also commended Aboutrika for the work he has done for the party in the last elections and assured that the problems in his constituency will be dealt with accordingly.
“I commend him for the work he did during the campaign season that brought the star President, Nana Akufo-Addo to office and so I assure him that we are aware of the problems in his constituency and we will deal with those challenges.”
