The New Patriotic Party(NPP) head office in Accra has been ransacked. Reports indicate that persons believed to be supporters of the suspended National Chairman of the (NPP), Paul Afoko ransacked the party’s headquarters. Citi News’ Fred Djabanor who was reporting from the scene said “the office of the NPP has been ransacked and a number of Policemen are present.” He observed that the party’s private security firm that had been guarding the office for sometime now were not present. “There is not a single person here from the NPP who is maintaining safety at the party headquarters. All you can see here are police officers who have been stationed here,” Fred added.
This incident follows a similar one that occurred a few weeks ago at the same venue. Hundreds of Afoko’s supporters besieged the party’s headquarters weeks after Afoko was suspended to demand his reinstatement. The supporters argued that they were unhappy with the decision to suspend him and want him reinstated. They also asked the party to allow Mr. Kwabena Agyepong to operate as the General Secretary without interference.
