The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has denied reports it has assigned soldiers as bodyguards for the president’s brother, Ibrahim Mahama.
Mr Mahama was captured in a photo circulating on social media accompanied by soldiers during a walk.
A statement from the Armed Forces, signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Colonel Aggrey-Quashie, noted: “The Military High Command has taken serious exception to the bad conduct in respect of soldiers who participated in a health walk and were alleged to have been providing close protection to Mr Ibrahim Mahama.
“The Military High Command wishes to state that it has not assigned any soldier as bodyguard to Mr Ibrahim Mahama. The soldiers in question were assigned as part of the security detail at the Flagstaff House.”
