Diana Prince goes to war in the new official trailer for Wonder Woman.
The film, which takes place during World War I, begins around the time of Batman v Superman, with Prince looking at an old photo of her and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). “I used to want to save the world. This beautiful place,” Prince, played by Gal Gadot, says in the trailer. “But the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within. I learned this the hard way, a long, long time ago.”
What follows is a trip back in time and a glimpse at the action-heavy DC Extended Universe film from Patty Jenkins. In the trailer, Wonder Woman fights to help Trevor and his comrades defeat a greater evil.
“It is our sacred duty to defend the world. And that’s what I’m going to do,” she says.
In addition to Gadot and Pine, Wonder Woman stars Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen.
“I feel that I’ve got the opportunity to set a great role model for girls to look up to a strong, active, compassionate, loving, positive woman and I think it’s so important,” Gadot told EW about playing Wonder Woman over the summer. “It’s about time that somebody will do that and I’m very privileged and honored to be the one.”
This is the first look at Wonder Woman since this summer’s Comic-Con.
Wonder Woman will arrive in theaters in June 2017.
