Dr David Zaawumya Kolbila has taken over the administration of the Tamale Teaching Hospital as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He said as a new administration taking over the mandate of the facility, there would be an assessment of the current situation of the hospital.
According to him, the new management will find lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the health centre.
“We have to assess the situation very well, get to know what problems are existing, the extent of the problem, what is giving rise to the problem, and find out what may keep us in those problems and see whether we can reverse the situation so that we start doing the things that can take us out of those problems,” he stated.
“What I intend to lead the system to do is to create an enabling environment to promote team work and to make sure we work on the attitude of the personnel. Let us own the system, let us know that we are working for ourselves, not for anybody. … And, so, we will make sure anybody working here develops the right attitude and then take care of the patients including ourselves.”
Dr Kolbila took over as Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Monday, June 19, 2017 from Dr Prosper Akanbong. He has since begun work. There was initially a struggle between him and his predecessor but the Ministry of Health intervened to resolve the matter.
