GN Bank will soon have a presence in Wassa Akropong, People’s Progressive Party (PPP) flag bearer Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has promised.
Dr Nduom, who is also the president of Groupe Nduom (GN) – of which GN Bank is a subsidiary – gave the assurance when he took his campaign tour to the Wassa Amenfi East district of the Western Region on Saturday September 24.
The businessman-cum-politician is making a third attempt at the presidency following two previous attempts in 2008 and 2012.
Speaking at the palace of the chief of Wassa Akropong, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, Dr Nduom asked for land in order to establish the bank and carry out other developmental activities to create jobs for people in the area.
“Before I deliver the message for which I came here, I would like to make a request. My request is this: Tetrete, there is no GN Bank branch in this community. So we ask that if it is the chief’s wish, he gives us some land and should he give us that land before elections, he will see that construction of the bank will begin,” he asked.
He said with GN Bank branches at nearby Obuasi, Dunkwa, Bogoso, Prestea, and others under construction at Asankragua and Ayanfuri, it would be unfair to overlook Wassa Akropong in the siting of a branch of the bank.
Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II said he would consider Dr Nduom’s request and urged him not to turn his back on the youth should he win the polls, since the young are the future of the society.
