The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has the best ideas for developing Ghana which the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) keeps stealing, Nana Akufo-Addo, flag bearer of Ghana’s biggest opposition party, has said.
“Our opponents in the NDC say we are making a lot of promises. But I know one thing: Akufo-Addo promises today, tomorrow it is NDC policy. So, my promises are never empty promises. Our party (NPP) will continue to bring out ideas for the development and progress of the Ghanaian people. That is why all the best ideas of social development, in the last decade, have all come from the NPP,” Mr Akufo-Addo said when he paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Yapei Traditional Area, Yapei Wura Soale Alhassan.
Ahead of the 7 December polls, Mr Akufo-Addo has promised that each of the 216 districts in Ghana will get a factory should he win the polls. He has also promised to set up an irrigation dam in every farming village in the regions up north. The party’s vice-presidential nominee, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has also promised that each of the 275 constituencies in the country will receive $1million per year for development purposes should the NPP win power.
These promises have been ridiculed by the NDC and described as impossible.
However, Mr Akufo-Addo said: “… I am not perturbed when I hear them saying we are making promises. We will make promises that we can deliver on and that will help the people of Ghana.”
