Almost all hotels in the Central regional capital, Cape Coast, have been booked by officials and members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the official launch of the party’s Election 2016 campaign on Sunday August 14.
Similarly, hotels and guest houses in nearby communities and towns including Elmina have also been booked to accommodate the thousands of members of the party who will be travelling from far and near to take part in the exercise.
ClassFMonline.com has gathered that the situation has left several others who intend travelling to the region for other purposes other than the NDC’s event, stranded. Journalists who will be covering the event are also struggling to secure hotel rooms.
The NDC will be outdooring its presidential candidate and other campaign-related activities on that day.
Director of Communications for the party’s campaign, Joyce Bawa-Mogtari, at a press conference last week, said: “We intend to outdoor our candidate, we intend to galvanise our party supporters, we intend to officially kick-start the campaign in the run-up to our victory come December 7, 2016.”
She expressed the hope that after the launch, activities will be rolled out to help the party secure a second term for President Mahama.
“We have a robust candidate, we have a humble candidate, we have a gentleman, we have a man who has demonstrated all his life his true passion for this country and the people of Ghana. We have a man who deserves a second term, and we hope after the official launch, we will be able to march towards cictory 2016 come December 7,” the Deputy Transport Minister said.
“The theme for this official launch will be Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana. It will capture all infrastructural developments in terms of health, power, and all the other sectors President Mahama has ably committed to.”
