Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has asked Ghanaians to disregard the National Democratic Congress’ “vituperations” against the government.
According to him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is on the right track to solving problems confronting Ghanaians.
His comments follow remarks by Kofi Portuphy, National Chairman of the NDC, that Ghanaians have regretted voting for the New Patriotic Party and Nana Akufo-Addo.
At a press conference on Wednesday, 12 April, Mr Portuphy asked: “Don’t we hear Ghanaians express regret that they have exchanged their colour TVs for black-and-white?
“The NDC can do it again, not in eight years but, God willing, in four years. Why am I optimistic that the NDC can bounce back in 2020? Don’t we hear Ghanaians expressing regret that they have exchanged their colour TVs for black-and-white? Don’t we hear expressions of anger from trotro and taxi drivers over incessant increases in fuel prices contrary to what Nana Akufo-Addo promised them during their campaign? Don’t we hear the anger and disappointment of parents who are now being told by President Akufo-Addo that the Free SHS is not free for all SHS students?”
But responding to these comments in an interview with Emefa Apawu on the 505 programme on Class91.3FM on Wednesday, Mr Obiri Boahen said: “It is only bad losers like NDC who are not appreciating Nana Addo’s efforts. We must dismiss their effusions with the contempt that it deserves. They are bad losers and that is why they are pouring out these tantrums and inciting Ghanaians against Nana Addo and attacking him.
“The bottom line is that Nana Addo has done well, he has put up a spectacular performance. It is only bad losers like NDC who at every point in time will not appreciate what Nana Addo has done. People are praising Ghana, world leaders are praising Ghana, a lot of institutions are praising Ghana, showing that we are on the right path.
“Let us ignore the vituperation, innuendoes, which they have been casting on us. They had been doing that when even they were in power, but Ghanaians are serious. Let us ignore them with the contempt that it deserves. We are on track.”
