The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has arrested three people at the Kotoka International Airport for illicit drug trafficking offences.
The suspects Madugu Suraku, Maxwell Momo Golafale and Daniel Njoku Agbuta, were arrested on different occasions for unlawful possession and trafficking in narcotics while going through arrival and departure formalities at KIA.
Suraku, a Ghanaian was arrested on 29 March on his return from Nairobi Kenya. He was picked up while going through arrival formalities and a urine test conducted on him proved positive for narcotics. The suspect, upon interrogation confessed having ingested 35 pellets of a powdery substance suspected to be speedball.
Forensic analysis confirmed the substance being speedball, a combination of cocaine and heroin, both illicit narcotic substances.
Golafale, a Liberian, was arrested on 21 March while going through departure formalities to China. The suspect had concealed in his luggage, two slabs of compressed dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa popularly referred as wee.
Agbuta, a Nigeria, according to NACOB, was apprehended on 5 April on his arrival from Sao Paolo, Brazil. Urine tests conducted on him subsequently proved positive for cocaine.
