Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor, has denied rumours that her husband is her running mate for the 2016 general elections to be held on December 7.
Speaking to ClassFMonline.com shortly after she submitted her presidential nomination forms to the Electoral Commission on Thursday, 29 September, the farmer-turned-politician said “it is not true that I have chosen my husband as my running mate. He is my number one fan”.
She said she will name a fellow woman as her vice-presidential nominee but declined to give any clues about that person. “I’ll announce who she is after launching my manifesto,” she said.
She joined eight other presidential hopefuls on Thursday to submit her nomination forms. Akua Donkor is one of two female presidential aspirants in the 2016 elections. Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings of the National Democratic Party (NDP) is the other female aspirant.
