Incoming Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament Madam Adwoa Safo believes her nomination for the current post is an honour done her by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She indicates that little did she know the party has been keenly following her contributions on the floor of parliament and at the committee levels.
According to her, she has been a member of one of the powerful committees in parliament including the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) among others and has always proven her worth.
The Dome-Kwabenya lawmaker said her new portfolio emboldens her to do more on the floor of parliament not only in the interest of the majority but on both sides of the house.
“It is an honour done me by the leadership of my party and I will serve to the best of ability. It is a step in the right direction especially being the first deputy majority leader of parliament in the country. I will perform to the admiration of all in doing the business of government on the floor of house. Will step on the other side to reach a consensus to keep government business running. I will not be one person stacked to one side of the house”, she revealed.
Madam Adwoa Safo promised to bring her expertise of 15 years practice at the bar in the discharge of her duties and commended her constituents for reposing much confidence in her and retaining her in parliament.
“I may look young but I have been practicing as a lawyer for 15 years and I will use the expertise in my new role in deepening the democracy of the country. I thank the people of Dome-Kwabenya constituency for voting for me to return to parliament in order to serve them”, she added.
