Metro Mass Transit drivers across the country are demonstrating against what they describe as poor working conditions and bad remuneration as well as the removal of their Managing Director Bennet Aboagye.
The drivers who grounded their buses on Wednesday, 27 August 2017 said efforts to get management to give them better conditions of service has proved futile, adding that their MD does not have the interest of the company at heart as he has not done anything to revive the ailing transport company six months into his appointment.
The drivers also complained that about 500 of the company’s buses are broken down and need to be fixed, but have been left to rot.
The drivers also complain that they are not paid risk allowance, but paid only GHS10 as sleepover allowance, which to them is peanuts since they are also not given medical insurance.
They want these challenges addressed by management.
