Medeama SC board chairman, Tony Aubynn, has expressed the club’s ambition to reach the lucrative stage of the CAF Champions League, despite not yet being confirmed participants for the upcoming season’s competition.
If Medeama secure victory in the Ghana Premier League, they will secure qualification to the CAF Champions League. Currently leading the table with 57 points, three more than second-placed Bechem United, Medeama is in a strong position to claim the title and secure an automatic place in the prestigious tournament.
A win or draw in their final match against Tamale City at Akoon Park would crown Medeama as champions, ensuring their qualification for the CAF Champions League.
Tony Aubynn who doubles as the Black Galaxies management committee chairman indicated that the team would want to get to the money zone at least before thinking of the possibility of winning the ultimate.
“I have always been disrespectful of lower targets, I think the ultimate is to win but realistically, you need to enter into the money zone because if you put in all your effort and investment and you don’t actually get to the money zone, you would have spent money for nothing”, he told Graphic Sports. “We are confident of winning the league, we think that we have been hard done by nature you remember that during the normalisation period, we were in a comfortable lead and then the league was truncated.
