Lawyer for some of the judges implicated in the judicial scandal says former Attorney General Martin Amidu’s revelations about Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye Pi team will help uncover the truth about the scandal.
Speaking to Citi FM’s morning show, John Ndebugri said there is some outré of truth in what Martin Amidu is saying about Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
“I am refreshed that Martin has intervened in this issue. He knows what he is talking about; because he has been an Attorney General before. What is the meaning of Anas editing the video? Isn’t there some corrupt practice as well?” he quizzed.
A two-year undercover investigation done by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye PI revealed a damning verdict of some judges trading justice for money, goats and other commodities.
The documentary was broadcast at the Accra International Conference Centre after some judges filed cases against it.
Thousands of Ghanaians trooped to the venue to view firsthand the explosive content of the documentary which shows judges allegedly collecting bribes to subvert justice.
In a statement issued after a long silence, Mr. Martin ABK Amidu, said, government is opportunistically using the judicial bribery scandal to hide massive political corruption.
Titled, “The Ghanaian sense of justice: corrupt judges removed, corrupt attorneys rewarded and corrupt politicians protected,” the article chronicles incidents; Mr. Amidu believes are clear cases of political corruption which have gone unpunished.
In his statement, Former Attorney-General also stated that government commissioned the undercover investigation to divert public attention from GARGANTUAN political corruption.
“What nauseates me in the whole judicial corruption scandal as a not-for profit anticorruption crusader is the posture of the Government through the President and the Attorney General in using the results of its commissioned undercover investigations to detract attention from the Gargantuan political corruption that has engulfed not only the Government but the Legislature as well since 2009.”
This according to John Ndebugri is raises questions about the credibility of Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team.
“Who Polices the Policeman? It is reasonable to conclude that he [Anas] is working with high personalities of the state,” he stated.
He revealed that he has done a research which proved that Tiger Eye PI is a limited liability company.
John Ndebugri, however, stated that Martin Amidu was too quick to commend the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood for her handling of the issue.
