The Chief of Asante Mampong, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, has prevented the family of victims of last Friday’s inferno in the area from holding a funeral service for their departed relatives.
The order, Voicefmonline.com learnt, had to do with the fact that Sunday was a Sacred Day (Akwasidae) in the calendar of the Traditional Area and was improper for anyone to organize a funeral a day after that special day.
The family following the directive, may have to bury the dead without the usual funeral rites.
Prior to the order, the family had wanted to lay the deceased in state for a while before burying them and then proceed to organize the funeral later in the day.
Six persons reportedly lost their lives in a fire outbreak that rocked Worakese a community at Asante Mampong in the Ashanti region.
The cause of the fire outbreak which claimed the life of one man, his friend and four children, is still unknown.
Sources say the family had decided to hold the funeral service at the Mampong cemetery.
