Former President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to establish agro-industrial processing zones in all 16 regions of Ghana if elected president in December.
The objective of the plan, according to Mahama, is to enhance the value of crops for which each region has a competitive advantage.
He explained that this strategic move would not only create new job opportunities but also help Ghanaians gradually reduce their dependence on importing raw materials.
Speaking at Aworowa in the Techiman North constituency of the Bono East Region, Mahama emphasized his passion for developing a thriving agricultural sector and his commitment to supporting small businesses and farmers across the country.
He reiterated his promise to establish regional processing zones, which would be tailored to the specific crops produced in each region.
Mahama explained that his government would provide the necessary infrastructure, such as factories and electricity, while supporting the private sector to build and operate these factories, ultimately creating employment opportunities for Ghanaians.
