President John Mahama is incorruptible, National Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Adams, has said.
Mr Adams said Mr Mahama is a leader who does not condone corruption in any form or shape.
Mr Adams’ comment comes on back of an avalanche of criticism hurled at the president for accepting a Ford Expedition as a gift from a Burkinabe contractor, who, in turn, was given some contracts by the government of Ghana.
The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) believed that the president’s acceptance of the gift amounted to conflict of interest.
However, enumerating some of the achievements of Mr Mahama on local television station, TV3, on Sunday August 7, Mr Adams said: “President Mahama has never on any platform justified corruption. President Mahama has described corruption as “mass murder”. He has indicated clearly that he doesn’t mind who is involved, whether you are in his government [or] you are not in his government, if there is any indication that you have done something that has affected this country in any way that is deemed to be corrupt, he will let the due process apply”.
“For example, you get a situation where people complain that judgment debts have been paid over the years by various governments and some questioned those judgment debts. What did the president do? He said: ‘No, let us put a commission to look into the fundamentals and make sure that we stop this…,’ this is part of the solution.”
