Given that the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is currently campaigning in the Western Region, which is bordered by the Ivory Coast, all supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should join in concert, to drive the Elephant party and its leader into the Ivorian forest, Mr Collins Dauda, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, has said.
He said because the Central Region shared a boundary with the Western Region, the elephant (the symbol of the NPP) would clearly hear shouts from NDC faithful gathered at the Cape Coast Stadium, the venue of the party’s campaign launch and consequently get flustered and run into the bush.
“I have heard that the Elephant is in the Western Region, meaning it has drawn closer to the forest in Ivory Coast. When we shout, it will get into the forest without coming out again and so we are shouting on top of our voices in order to drive away the elephant into the Ivorian forest.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with Class FM’s Emefa Apawu at the venue, Alhassan Suhuyini, the NDC’s parliamentary nominee for Tamale North, said given the massive infrastructural development seen in Ghana under President John Mahama, his competitors come nowhere close to winning the elections.
He said it was just a formality that this year’s elections should be held, otherwise Ghanaians had already given Mr Mahama a second term.
