Mr Koku Anyidoho, a deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his first public statement after his release from CID detention on Thursday has said the events of the last two days have been “excellent” and “exciting” for him.
“As deputy general secretary of the party, I didn’t doubt the fact that we [NDC] had the support base and we believe in comradeship and camaraderie, and what happened in the last two days have been excellent, exciting,” he told Joy FM at his residence moments after he arrived there.
“We thank the grassroots, we thank everybody, former President John Dramani Mahama, the party chairman, general secretary, members of parliament and the lawyers and everybody, we thank God,” he added.
When he was asked if he had any regrets about the statement he responded, “which statement?”
Scores of NDC party supporters and journalists gathered at the party headquarters in anticipation for Koku Anyodoho to arrive there.
But the National Organiser of the NDC, Mr Kofi Adams explained the police decided to take him to his residence to finalise his bail conditions, reports Gertrude Ankah Nyavi.
”…they refused to allow him come straight to the party headquarters to interface with you. So, as I speak to you now, he is in the car on his way home where they will sign the final bail condition,” Mr Adams told the party supporters at the headquarters.
He reiterated the arrest of their “comrade will not intimidate the party from fighting for the truth. “We in the NDC will not stop speaking about the wrong that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia are visiting on this country.”
“Indeed we are even more emboldened to continue to raise the wrongs; we will fight against the invasion of foreign policies in our land. We will make sure the sovereignty of Ghana is protected,” he added.
