Inspector General of Police David Asante Apeatu has announced a GHS10,000 reward for any individual who provides information leading to the arrest of the two armed men who shot two police officers at Lapaz, killing one in the process.
The IGP made the announcement during an address at a programme held at the Kaneshie Police Station on Friday, July 14.
The police officer died at the Police Hospital in Accra whilst his injured colleague was admitted at the same hospital following a shootout with armed men suspected to be robbers.
The shooting occurred on Thursday July 13 around 1:20pm when the officers were on their routine motorbike patrols at Lapaz in the Greater Accra Region.
The two unidentified men on an unregistered motorbike are currently on the run.
To facilitate their movement, the assailants abandoned their motorbike, snatched an unregistered ash Hyundai Elantra saloon vehicle and sped off in the direction of Mallam junction.
The police have urged the public, especially Lapaz residents, to remain calm as they intensify efforts to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
They are urging the public to volunteer useful information to police numbers 18555, 0302787373, 0302773695 or 0302773906.
