The Kumasi Traditional Council has declared its support for the Mayor of Kumasi, Osei Assibey Antwi on his plans to redevelop the city to regain its lost glory.
The Council was constituted to deliberate on developmental driven plans that will see the city develop.
The Kumasi Traditional Council which consist of all heads of Asante clans has been sanctioned by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to deliberate on Kumasi development.
The council, has therefore, devoted two Thursdays of every month; Monday after every Akwasidae festival; Thursday after every Awukudae festival to deliberate on matters concerning development of the city.
The Chairman of the Council who doubles as Bantamahene, Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia V, said this on Thursday, October 5, 2017 when Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, paid a courtesy call on the council and furnished them with plans put in place to help develop the city and also craved their indulgence to support him to implement the plans.
Baffour Asare, said the council is solidly behind him on his developmental plans for the city.
“We are solidly behind you. We know what you have done. For me, I know what you can do, but it won’t be easy for you,” he said.
He noted that Kumasi development was lagging behind as compared to the nation’s capital, Accra, while advising him not to heed to any pressure from political party or some chiefs that may hinder his developmental plans.
He, therefore, suggested a 20-year development plan for the city as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly collaborates with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to develop developmental plans for the city as disclosed by the Mayor.
