There has been a clash between Konkombas and Dagombas at Nakpachie, a farming community in the Yendi Municipality leading to the death of one person and several others wounded with two in critical condition early Thursday, 8 November 2018.
Narrating the incident to Sagani TV’s Sualisu Sapashini, the Yendi Divisional Crime officer, Supt. Happy Michael Addae, said a fight between two farmers, one Alhassan Ziblim (a Dagomba man) and Neina (a konkomba man), escalated resulting in the death and injuries.
Alhassan Ziblim’s backyard maize farm was destroyed by pigs belonging to Neina.
Earlier Thursday Alhassan went to his maize farm and shot a pig that entered the farm.
The pig, which belongs to Neina died from the gun shot instantly.
This led to a confrontation between Neina, accompanied by his two brothers and Alhasaan .
In an attempt to seize the gun from Alhassan, a shot was fired and hit Neina in the thigh.
The two brothers ran back to their community and falsely reported that Neina was dead.
This angered the Konkombas who launched an attack on the Dagomba community killing the Chief Imam, Alhaji Adam Alhassan, and injuring several others. Several houses were also torched in the process.
The Dagombas as well as the Konkombas have both deserted the community leaving the presence of only their livestock and a joint police and military team deployed to maintain law and order.
