The founder of the Atta Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho has said he will be going to Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to strive for them to investigate the misappropriation of funds meant for the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Library in Cape Coast.
As today marks the 11th Anniversary of passing away of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, however, over a decade, after his death and the sod cutting to commence the project, the edifice which was commissioned by former President John Dramani Mahama just before the 2016 general election, remains an eyesore for the reason that the contractor has refused to allow entry because of monies owed him by the Atta-Mills Funeral Planning Committee which was chaired by Mr. Kofi Totobi Quarkyi.
But before that let’s watch the short statement from the late President John Evans Atta-Mills before his demise.
While thankful to the State for taking over the Project and making good of the indebtedness to the contractor, Koku Anyidoho, Founder and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute (AMI), says he will be going to EOCO and call for a full-scale investigation by the State into how huge sums collected in the name of the State for the project, was not used for the intended purposes.
According to Anyidoho, as a member of the Funeral Planning Committee, he is prepared to meet EOCO and any investigative body and speak boldly to the facts as known to him.
He said he doesn’t know how people can use the death of the late President Atta-Mills to raise huge amounts in the name of the State to build a Memorial Library and just squander the money in a conscienceless manner and therefore the State must investigate & bring them to justice.
“I’m going to EOCO as a citizen of this country. As a member of the committee where is the initial money we took from the public as the committee, where is the money?”
“A president who died in Office, a man of integrity, a man who fears God and his name was used for taking money from people specifically from the Telecommunication Companies like MTN, AirtelTigo that they were going to build presidential Memorial library and the committee cannot account?”
He said “they should come out and tell them what the money was used for”.
