The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Nathan Kofi Boakye has been promoted from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to the rank of Commissioner of Police (COP), courtesy a promotion by President John Dramani Mahama.
A statement issued by the Ghana Police Service and signed by DSP Freeman Tettey said Boakye’s appointment takes effect from June 1, 2016.
Boakye’s new post as predicted by many long before he was posted to the Ashanti Region is a big step towards the position of Inspector General of Police (IGP) he has been aspiring for.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, many believe, is likely to be appointed the next IGP if Mr. Kudalor retires.
