The Methodist Church is organising counselling sessions for the rest of the students and teachers of the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School to help them come out of the trauma they are going through following the involvement of 15 students of the school in the Kintampo Waterfalls accident on Sunday, Rev Kyei Baffour, Chaplain at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, has said.
According to him, since the incident happened, the remaining students have had sleepless nights due to trauma, a situation which requires that the school authority takes them through the counselling sessions.
Speaking in an interview with Accra News’ Naa Atswei Oduro on Tuesday 21 March, Rev Baffour said: “The very day the incident occurred, the chaplain in the school gathered all the students and prayed with them for strength to withstand the calamity that has befallen their colleagues. They have been traumatised following the incident and so they need to be talked to to take them out of the situation.
“The General Manager of Schools at the Methodist head office, Very Rev Nana Danyame, also travelled to the school to interact with the teachers and the students as a way of strengthening them in these difficult times. They really need the support of the general public.
“We have dedicated the whole week to counsel them.”
