Johnson for the first time
Kim Kardashian has met the woman she freed from prison, Alice Marie Johnson, for the first time – and she instantly taught her about the magic of Snapchat filters. Kim, 37, met with President Donald Trump to ask for Johnson to be released from prison, where she was serving a life sentence for a first-time non-violent drug offense. Alice, a 63-year-old great-grandmother, had her sentence commuted by Trump last week and was released after serving nearly 22 years in prison – and she finally met with Kim to speak together in an interview for NBC.
Speaking to Hoda Kotb about the moment Kim told her she was free, Alice said: ‘I thought it was an attorney call, when my case manager was waiting on me, and it was. But I didn’t know that Kim was coming in. I believe she said “you can go home now. Are you ready to go home?” ‘When she said that, I went into full-fledged Pentecostal holy dance. I started screaming and jumping. I was dancing, I was doing everything.’ Kim added: ‘At first I thought she knew because the news was starting to break and we had to get her on the phone. She was kind of quiet on the phone and I know her personality enough to know that she would have been screaming, or something.
‘And I said, “wait, you don’t know?” and she said, “know what?” and I was like, “you are going home”. And screams, and cries and we all just cried on the phone.’ The rest of the interview will be aired on Today, er, today, but we got a behind-the-scenes peek at Alice and Kim’s bonding sesh thanks to social media. Namely, Kim teaching Alice how to use Snapchat filters.
The mum-of-three showed Alice how to use the bunny filter and the more flattering floating heart filter on the app, explaining: ‘Alice has never used filters before so I’m showing her the ropes. Love you Alice!’ Alice was giggling throughout the tutorial, saying at the end: ‘Love you Kim!’ Adorable.
