Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have parted ways with their long-time bodyguard, Pascal Duvier, one month after the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was held at gunpoint and robbed of millions of dollars in jewellery.
“Pascal no longer works for Kim and Kanye, but he wasn’t fired. He instead reassigned himself to another family for professional reasons. Pascal thought that he did let down Kim and didn’t do his job properly in Paris. They all agreed that it was better for Kim and Kanye to hire a completely new security team,” a source tells People.
“E! is paying for the new security team and it’s very expensive,” the source says, but adds, “E! definitely won’t be paying forever.”
On Oct. 3, while Duvier was on duty protecting Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner on their night out during Paris Fashion Week, Kardashian West stayed in her No Address Hotel room alone when five masked men entered her apartment, bound, gagged and robbed her.
Although Duvier continued to be employed by the couple after the robbery, including working security at Kanye’s show one week after the heist and most recently at his concert in Inglewood on Tuesday, the Spain-born German bodyguard has since reassigned himself.
Prior to her life-threatening robbery, the 36-year-old mother of two positively recognised Duvier on her Instagram account. “This guy is always in my shot!” she captioned a paparazzi photo of Duvier standing behind her while on duty in early October.
Since returning to the United States after the robbery and being reunited with her husband and children — North 3, and Saint, 10 months — the KUWTK star has largely remained out of the spotlight, abstained from posting on social media and is living a low-profile lifestyle.
“The only ‘positive’ thing about the robbery is that Kim changed pace. Instead of working nonstop, her life has slowed down significantly. She seems happy about this,” a third source said of the reality star.
“She very much likes spending every day with her kids. Many times in the past, it was very hard for her to be away from her kids for work,” the third source adds of Kardashian West, who is dedicating her time to her young daughter and son. “Now she gets to wake up with her kids and go to sleep with her kids.”
