One of the implicated judges in the judicial corruption scandal, Justice Paul Uuter Dery has withdrawn an interlocutory injunction suit, which sought to prevent investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas from premiering the video.
Justice Dery sued Anas, the Director of Estates and General Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Manager of the Accra International Conference Centre and the Attorney General with the hope of preventing the premiering of the video scheduled for today [Tuesday].
In a surprise move, Nii Kpakpo Addo, the lawyer for the Justice Dery indicated they had dropped the case against Anas with no further explanation. However, it is not clear if that also means the International Conference Centre is cleared to show the video.
Justice Dery had sought for a substituted service after he and his lawyers complained that Anas and his investigative team Tigereyepi have been unavailable in their offices to be served the writs, though the other defendants have been served.
The substituted service was granted by the presiding judge, Justice Gertrude Tukunor but Justice Dery and his lawyers withdrew the case against Anas.
Citifmonline.com has also gathered that the lawyers for Justice Dery have filed a fresh suit against the International Conference Centre on Tuesday to prevent them from screening the Anas’ investigative piece which caught him [Justice Dery] and some other judges allegedly taking bribe.
