A former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has apologised to the Coalition of Concerned Teachers for describing them as mentally deranged after the group demanded that the incoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration restore allowances of teacher trainees within its first 100 days in office.
Mr Jumah made the disparaging remarks about the teachers in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Thursday December 16.
But on Friday December 16, Mr Jumah took to his Facebook wall to issue an apology for his remarks
He wrote: “My friends, thanks for your advice and direction. It was never my intention to attack teachers as a whole. Indeed, I am very much aware of the overwhelming support that the NPP got from teachers. I went overboard and I sincerely apologise for that. I was caught off guard and it was very unfortunate. I sincerely believe Nana will deliver on his promise to our teachers and to Ghanaians. Once again, accept my apologies.”
