Lawyer for fourteen of the judges implicated in the Anas exposé, John Ndebugri has revealed that one of his clients has openly admitted he took bribe as was captured by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in the video on corruption in the judiciary.
Lawyer Ndebugri, who is leading fourteen of the judges implicated in the investigative piece to court to halt the Chief Justice from proceeding with public inquiry into the matter, made this revelation on Asempa FM’s Kukurantumi on Saturday.
“Just yesterday, one of my clients contrary to the instructions he gave, went to the panel and admitted his guilt..,” he told show host, Kwadwo Asare Barfour Acheampong (KABA).
According to him, he has no option apart from withdrawing from ‘the case and walking out of the committee hearing’ after the admission.
Fourteen Circuit Court judges have dragged the Judicial Council to the Fast Track High Court over disciplinary proceedings instituted against them for allegedly receiving bribes to compromise their decisions.
The 14 are seeking to halt the work of the Disciplinary Committee currently gathering facts for onward submission to the Judicial Council.
The plaintiffs are Emmanuel Kofi Sunu, Benjamin Yaw Osei, Kodwo Filson, Seyram Tsatsu Azumah, Isaac Akwantey and Florence Ninepence.
Others are Jacob Amponsah, Alfred K. A. Mensah, Albert Zoogah, Isaac Amoah, Michael Gyamfi Boamah, Paul Alhassan, Stephen Asuure and William Baffoe.
They are seeking a declaration that the disciplinary proceedings by the Judicial Council against the plaintiffs are contrary to law and or due process.
Lawyer Ndebugri, however, failed to name the judge who admitted his guilt when he approached the committee.
