Newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Shai Osudoku, Linda Akwele Ocloo has apologized to her contender in the just ended primary, Dr Michael Kpessa Whyte over her damning statement against him.
She had described Dr Whyte who’s the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of being an evil person who she cannot work with in ensuring that the NDC retains the seat during the upcoming November elections.
“I have to be a bit careful even though we are one people. Being together with him is something I have to think twice about because that man I can assure you is evil, very evil and I can’t afford to work with such people,” she said.
According to her, she wants to only “work with loyal competent and very faithful people.”
Linda with no political experience and widow of the parliamentary candidate William Ocloo who died, decided to contest for the position left vacant the seat following her late husband and won by 5,156 to beat her main contender Dr. Kpessa Whyte in a keenly contested parliamentary primary held Saturday, June 18.
But speaking to Neat FM Monday, the newly elected candidate stated that she has taken steps to close ranks with Dr Kpessa White.
“I have withdrawn the statement I made against Dr Kpessa Whyte and apologized to him. I further apologize to every NDC member in Shai Osudoku for my statement. What I said was based on the frightening text messages that I received from his camp where his supporters threatened my life. I’m a mother for all; we are one people and we need to work hard to project the image of the party.
“We have a lot of work to do in Shai Osudoku and there’s no time to waste. We should have the interest of the party at heart. Once I’ve withdrawn my statement I know supporters of Dr Whyte will join us so that the NDC retains the seat in Shai Osudoku.”
