Newly-appointed Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has pledged to live up to expectation to ensure that the Akufo-Addo-led government succeeds.
Mr Jinapor was on Wednesday January 4 confirmed the Deputy Chief of Staff by President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who will be sworn into office on Saturday January 7.
Before the confirmation of his appointment, speculation had mounted on social media of an imminent top role for him in the Akufo-Addo governemnt, with several people expressing dissenting views on his appointment. Some were of the view that he contributed little to the victory of the New Patriotic Party in the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections, hence should not be given such appointment.
However, speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen immediately his appointment was announced, he said: “There were several issues that came up against me but these issues rather encourage and strengthen me to work up to expectation. I will vindicate the confidence in his (Akufo-Addo) judgment. I will not embarrass him. I believe all the things people said about me were meant to ensure that the president and his government succeed, they all want the Akufo-Addo government to flourish, but as I said it will rather empower me to work up to expectation.
“I want to be part of the success of this government and so I will up my efforts and I hope with God’s guidance, I will be able to contribute my quota to the government.”
