A People’s National Convention (PNC) government will develop strategies and interventions to build the capacity of Ghanaian youth because they are the most valuable assets Ghana has at the moment, Dr Edward Mahama, presidential candidate of the PNC, has said.
According to him, efforts will be directed towards formulating policies and programmes that will make the youth productive, creative and prosperous through realistic and practical interventions.
Dr Mahama was initially ruled as ineligible to contest for the December 2016 election following the detection of anomalies on his nomination forms by the Electoral Commission until a Supreme Court order to allow him and other aspirants disqualified from the race correct the errors on their forms offered him a route back into the contest.
Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Friday November 25, Dr Mahama said: “The campaign is going very well. Our momentum was truncated by the disqualification, but we have picked up from there and we are doing the best we can under the circumstances.”
He continued: “…I talk about the new beginning, the new deal, and new force. This is our campaign team and our manifesto is hovering around that team. People are receiving it very well, especially the new force idea.
“What we are looking at is 18- to 35-year old Ghanaians, both men and women, and trying to tell them that we are ready to mobilise them into a force for productivity, into a force for creativity, into a force for prosperity for the nation. They are the most valuable asset for Ghana so far as the working environment is concerned. So our message is being received very well.”
He further revealed that he would be visiting Agbogbloshie today Friday as part of his campaign activities to interact with artisans and traders.
