Health Minister-designate Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has indicated he will collaborate effectively with other ministries and agencies in charge of sanitation to deal with filth in the country as a way of reducing diseases and sicknesses in the country.
According to him, effective collaboration between the Ministries of Health, Sanitation & Water Resources, and Local Government & Rural Development will ensure that the right programmes and projects are introduced to deal with the sanitation-related problems in the country.
Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of parliament on Tuesday January 24, Mr Agyemang-Manu said: “When I heard the president announce the creation of a new ministry that will be in charge of sanitation, my own plan [for] the Ministry of Health was that I would need to collaborate with that new ministry and the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development for us to do more work on sanitation.
“I believe that if we are able to mount programmes and projects that will prevent the occurrence of these diseases, we may have done so much.
“I will expect that we will come with projects and programmes that will also help the other ministries that are charged with sanitation but we will collaborate with each other and see how best we can work to actually do sanitation more efficiently in the country.”
