An official vehicle of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, has been involved in a nearly fatal accident.
He was, however, not in the car.
The accident occurred on the Accra-Kumasi Highway on Wednesday, 21 June.
The Toyota Land Cruiser was being driven by Chief Inspector John Ankomah, when it crashed into a KIA Rhino truck at about 9:20pm, at Nkawanda No. 2 near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
The truck, with registration number GW 1756, which was also being driven by 28-year-old Alhassan Kipo, was carting fertiliser from Accra to Tamale when the IGP’s vehicle, also registered GP 1, rammed into it.
The driver and another passenger on board sustained injuries and have since been admitted to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw for treatment.
